June Road

Service Description

Led by: Maxwell Sechzer. Nature is the best source of craft material that can beautify and enhance our lives and homes. In this class we will transform invasive round-leaf bittersweet into your choice of a gorgeous basket, platter, or sculpture. Basketmakers will learn how to identify and harvest the correct vines, then how to weave them into nearly any shape you can dream of using a simple basketry technique. You will leave class with the ability to go into your own neighborhoods (or even yards) and create finer and larger baskets right away. This class is perfect for both the beginner basketmaker and beginner forager. Bring: The mosquitos and ticks will be foraging too so dress appropriately. We will be entering areas with both poison ivy and thorny plants. Closed toed shoes with long pants and long sleeve shirts are all strongly encouraged. Optionally, If you have gardening gloves and pruners please bring them. They will make things easier and smoother for everyone.
